I love bead accessories–earrings, bracelets, necklaces–and I have been making my own for more than five years. It’s a satisfying hobby and you’ll be smiling once you’ve finished a project, pleased with your work no matter how simple it is. I feel proud wearing my own creations, my friends and officemates admiring them.
Aside from uncovering your creative side, beadwork is also a test of patience, especially when you’re dealing/using seed beads. There are different kinds of beads and their price ranges from really cheap to very, very expensive. I am not familiar with all types of beads. I’m not really particular with what beads to use. Most of the time, I utilize what’s in my bead box. But I’m still interested to learn the different kinds of beads. The very first bracelet I created was made from plastic beads attached together by two elastic strings. It’s not an awesome design, still I’m proud of it. I still keep it in my accessories box even if it looks old and the color has faded already.
Beading is also therapeutic. It can take your mind away from the chaos of your daily life. It also envokes a happy feeling once you see your finished work.
You can also sell them–to your relatives, friends, officemates, neighbors–for extra income. I sold some of mine before. I just couldn’t commit to my clients because I have a fulltime job. So now, I’m resigned to beading as a hobby.
